New Moon in Leo ~ Please Acknowledge Me

If you should ever acknowledge my existence, I plan to snub you.

~ Mason Cooley, English Professor

Sometimes when we think of Leo, we think of people who are bigger-than-life ~ the kind of people they should make movies about. I’ve got one in my life ~ an 82-year-old wild woman who recently bought herself a snazzy brand new convertible and begins every conversation with a boisterous, joyful, southern-drawled Dahhhh-lin’. She’s a Leo and she’s spectacular ~ exactly what the sign promises.

I'm the greatest!

We also can tend, at times, to imagine egotistical nightmares of people who are always hogging the spotlight and looking for any kind of attention they can get ~ even negative.  They aren’t all Leos, of course ~ each of the signs has its fair share of people with overblown egos. Jupiter can be a major contributor to overdoing anything.

Have you ever been in a situation where you were part of a group that worked very hard toward some goal which was successful, but one person took all the credit? You may have put in long hours, come up with fantastically creative ideas, your boss got a promotion or a bonus, and your name was never even mentioned. That happens a lot at work, it seems, with a boss or colleague who doesn’t like to share the glory. It also happens in social groups, but banishment is more likely for the glory-hog in social groups than at work.

While we get bored to death when a winner starts in with “I’d like to thank…” at awards ceremonies, it’s really the right thing to do. (It’s especially right if you happen to be one of the people being thanked.) What this all boils down to is appreciation ~ one of the things that Leo needs on a regular basis. It’s a way of being noticed, acknowledged, loved.

Since we’ve all got Leo somewhere in our charts, there’s at least one area of our life where we need to hear those simple words, I appreciate you, on more than rare occasions. Hearing those words brings acknowledgement that you matter. If you’re fortunate enough to hear those comforting words on a regular basis, imagine spending a few weeks, months, or years without hearing them from anyone. There are plenty of folks who don’t.

This New Moon will bring a focus on the house(s) of your chart with Leo on the cusp. The impact will depend on how strong that house is. In the first, you may need to hear that you look pretty, handsome, fit, sophisticated, like a movie star, or that your hair is gorgeous. You probably have a deep appreciation for ~ and a knack for using ~ those things that bring out the best in your appearance: fine clothes, a stunning hair cut, expensive jewelry. In the seventh, you probably need to be told that you’re appreciated by your husband, wife, or life partner. It would benefit you to remind them of just how much you appreciate them, too.

In the eighth, you may enjoy hearing just how great you are in bed (who wouldn’t) or how ably you manage financial accounts. (Isn’t the eighth a weird house?) Tell your lover (or accountant) how wonderful they are. It might inspire a little spike in romance or a little extra attention to your (hopefully burgeoning) accounts. You get the idea. If you haven’t told someone recently just how much you appreciate them ~ those silent, behind-the-scenes people who carry your weight on their shoulders ~ give them a moment in the Leo spotlight by telling them now. You need to tell them, and they need to hear it. Acknowledgement. Appreciation. There’s nothing like it. It always feels good, and it really hurts when it’s missing.

Now I’d like to say how much I appreciate you ~ first time visitors, friends old and new, those of you who have subscribed to Auntie Moon, and my fellow bloggers. You’ve taught me so much about people and life, and you’ve made my days much brighter. Have a glorious New Moon!

All my Leo is piled up in my second house – which I read as the house of ‘self-worth for myself ‘.
Mercury at 5°, Uranus at 6°, Mars at 15°, Venus at 17° and trailing them, Pluto at 28° in the third hs.

These boxcars are opposed by Chiron in the eighth, and my fifth house (Leo’s home) holds
Neptune in Libra and my North node in Scorpio,
Neptune is involved in a square to Mercury , Uranus. And Chiron squares my North Node creating a T-Square with both Mars and Venus.

This configuration is natal; before we factor in this Leo Moon. Perhaps in my life the ‘audience’ and plea, to ‘Acknowledge Me’ , is coming from within And is aimed at myself.

With Fiery Jupiter in my tenth, and Earthbound Saturn in my fourth, Perhaps now is the kick off of an era where I will no longer hide my light under a bushel.

What an astute observation, ej. Acknowledge all your gifts. We can spend a lifetime not giving ourselves any credit. When we step back and look objectively, or maybe if we momentarily put someone else’s name on what we’ve done, we can see just what it is that we have to offer. And we can be proud of it. Stop hiding that little light.
