Moon in Libra Beauty Tip ~ Let’s Get to the Root of It November 11, 2009

Isn’t it cool when you get a new beauty tip? Here’s one I’ve never read in a magazine. I got it from one of my really good friends who is eaten up with artsy, and just happens to be a Libra, btw.

Hair ColoringIf you color or highlight your dark hair, the day comes when you have to do something about your roots, right? Take some eye shadow that will match the darkest shade in your hair and dab it along your hairline, scalp, and part. I used a root touch up brush from a kit I had saved and it worked great. You can also use an artist’s paint brush that has a stiffer bristle. Just dab, dab, dab and you don’t have to suffer through mixing, waiting, and rinsing.

This is also a great tip if you having thinning hair in some area you want to hide. Just dab the scalp with the eyeshadow where your hair is thin.

Don’t use a glittery eyeshadow. Go with the matte finish.

This is probably a better tip for brunettes and highlighted hair than for blondes, but if you find just the right shade of eyeshadow…it might work for you, too.

Not exactly an astro item today. You can’t apply it to your natal chart, but you can apply it to your roots.

Do you have any little known beauty tips or tricks to pass along?

Libra ~ Look for the Lopsided October 19, 2009

Libra is Air ~ logical thinking, analysis, mediation, bartering, contracts, creating harmony. Libra is Venus thinking.

Seesaw, Margery Daw, Jenny shall have a new master.

In my post, 12 Things to Do When the Sun Transits Libra, one of the things I listed was “look for the lopsided.”  The scales of life are rarely balanced, so that’s what Libra sets out to do in our charts ~ seek and maintain the balance. A little more here, a little less there. Remember when you were a kid on a see-saw? Some kids you couldn’t budge in the air for anything. They were too heavy. Others were too light and couldn’t give you the lift you needed. Once in a while, you found a kid who you could balance perfectly on the see-saw. The problem there was that it wasn’t really any fun for very long. The perfect up/down was what kept us going. We liked the motion.

If you haven’t already, take a look at the house(s) that Libra occupies in your chart. You can probably find some lopsidedness there. Do you need to lift it up or bring it down a little? Lighten it up a little or add some serious weight?

Still-life with the Five Senses ~ Giuseppe Recco

Still-life with the Five Senses ~ Giuseppe Recco

What would it be like if you could taste, touch, see, hear, and smell the sign of Libra in exactly the way it might appear in your dreams? Libra is about our aesthetics, our sense of beauty, so wherever Libra is in your chart is where you need things to be beautiful and appealing. There is a vast amount of sensory perception in this house because Venus lives here. It’s a house of air, though, so it must also appeal to your intellect. Libra is Venus thinking about beauty.

And in this thinking, she allows her sense-abilities to meander to the best life has to offer. Wouldn’t it be nice if…I would so love to…it would feel so good to…I have a craving for…

There are three points of view from which we are
to look at the senses, viz: –
1st. As ministers to the merely animal wants of the Body.
2d. As ministers to the cultivation of the Intellect; and,
3d. As ministers to the gratification of the perception of Beauty
and its opposite.

~ Charles Wilson
The Five Senses, or: Gateways to Knowledge

How are you treating your five senses in your Libra house? Do they fulfill each of the three points of view that Mr. Wilson mentions? Libra wants to balance and shows us this balance through beauty. If you satisfy only your animal wants, your intellect will start to suffer. Satisfy only the intellectual, and your animal desire will start to roar. Somewhere in between and surrounding both is beauty ~ that illusive, balanced mix of form and content.

Here are some questions to get you started on defining your Libra sense-abilities:

Touch: What do these first few days of Autumn feel like on your skin? What do you want right against your skin that will keep you warm and cozy? What texture do you find irresistable?

Taste: What are your all-time favorite flavors? What foods of the season do you look forward to? Are they available now? Get some. Eat it.

Smell: What fragrances of the season do you look forward to? What does your home smell like right now? Is it pleasing? If it’s not, make it so.

Sound: Be aware of the breezes in the trees and the sound of the rustling leaves. What other sounds are specific to this time of year? Is it crisper?

Sight: Everything is changing ~ completely new furnishings are appearing in  your world. The view changes immensely when the trees are bare. What do you see that has been right in front of your eyes all along?

You can do this with all the signs, of course. Each one has something different to offer each of your fives senses.
